In 1912, Montana’s Gallatin Valley was known as the “pea capital of the nation.” Producing 75 percent of America’s pea crop, the Bozeman Canning Company was founded in 1917 and peas were canned and labeled before making their way to our nation’s dinner tables. In a single day, the canning company produced 13,000 cases of peas until its closure in 1950.
Redevelopment commenced in 2005 to adaptively repurpose the old buildings into a bustling hub of businesses, shops, and restaurants with the goal of paying homage to its history through thoughtful design. Today, the Cannery District, located in the heart of Bozeman, is a place thriving businesses call home. The complex offers a variety of dining, and shopping experiences. Here are just a few:
