Celebrate World-Class Independent Films in Breckenridge this Fall
Breck Film Fest is gearing up for another riveting festival season
On September 19th-22nd, the Breck Film Fest returns with a new lineup of must-see films. We spoke with Theater Manager of The Eclipse Theater and Breck Film Fest, Kat Cook, to learn about what to expect at this year’s event.
Why is Breck Film Fest an event to attend?
Our festival is one of a kind. Located in heart of Breckenridge, during peak leaf season, we have so many films to watch with filmmakers attending each year.
What goes on during the festival?
Different films are showcased throughout the four days. There are also panels with special guests discussing a variety of topics, a free block of films and crafting for families and a program for girls to create their own films and receive mentorship by our filmmakers in attendance. Filmmakers and peak ten pass holders can experience a VIP lounge, plus an after party each night at a different bar in town.
What kind of films can event-goers expect this year?
There are so many to choose from, with huge variety. Some favorites include, “Porcelain War” a film about makers and artists in Ukraine, “Yellow Bus” a heartbreaking drama about a mother going through an excruciating loss and “Magpie” a thriller starring Daisy Ridley that takes you on a emotional journey, but will have you cheering on the edge of your seat.
Have there been award-winning films presented at Breck Film Fest?
Last year, we showed “Fancy Dance, starring Academy Award nominated Lily Gladstone, which won awards across multiple festivals. “Stranger at the Gate” was an incredible short documentary that was nominated for best short documentary at the Academy Awards.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Our schedule is now live! See all the upcoming films for the festival. If you aren’t able to come to the festival, we do year round events and programming at our single screen theater, The Eclipse Theater.
