A New Boutique Hotel Pays Homage to Aspen’s Vibrant History
A luxurious, inspired adventure in this welcoming mining town awaits
The new MOLLIE Hotel is a great place to hang your hat while visiting Aspen, Colorado. All four ski areas are easily accessible from the MOLLIE, and it is located within a short walk of downtown Aspen. Spend a day on the slopes, visit Aspen’s walking malls, and dine on the acclaimed restaurant row. Offering retreat and respite after a day spent in the area’s majestic outdoors, everything Aspen has to offer is at your fingertips at the MOLLIE.
The MOLLIE is inspired by the many people that shaped Pitkin County’s rich history. The hotel was named after the Mollie Gibson Mine, Aspen’s most successful silver mine and early catalyst for the town’s economic, social, and cultural progress. The property was designed to embrace Aspen’s Bauhaus tradition. “Building the hotel was a collaborative experience,” says Ruben Caldwell, partner at Post Company, the multidisciplinary design firm responsible for the hotel’s construction, interior design, and branding and identity. “A continued faith in the process brought the unique vision of the hotel to fruition.”
Art, craftsmanship and a bit of the unexpected are a crucial part of the hotel’s design. CCY Architects led its architectural pursuit while, in the lobby, a hand dyed tapestry inspired by the work of Anni Albers and Agnes Martin is prominently displayed. Other public spaces and guest rooms feature artwork by renowned artists which plays a vital role in welcoming guests.
Amenities include a Gin & Luck managed hospitality program with a lobby bar and restaurant, and an all-day café on the premises. The hotel includes a rooftop spa pool, and a terrace bar for intimate evening gatherings.
The onsite restaurant and bar blend elegance with regional authenticity and hearty menu selections incorporating seasonal ingredients. With a dynamic wine, beer, and spirits list, every appetite is satiated. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily, and year-round heated seating is available on the hotel’s two terraces.
Rooms and suites are imbued with a sense of quiet and calm. The views take center stage with large windows that capture the stunning scenery. Every guest accommodation is superbly curated and appointed with an eye toward the subtlety of Japanese and Scandinavian design.
Aspen offers an abundance of activities to enjoy all year long. Skiing and snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and the arts all make the municipality a vital, interesting place to visit. The Wheeler Opera House, The Aspen Institute, and the Aspen Art Museum are an easy walk from the MOLLIE Hotel.
